  • The Chancel Choir of First Presbyterian Church provides music for the Classic Reformed Service held at 10:45 Sunday morning.    The group consists of volunteers from the congregation and a hand full of scholarship students.  Its primary function is to provide support in the singing of hymns.  In addition, the choir presents an anthem and service music for each service.

The styles of music prepared by the choir encompass the full gamut of choral and vocal music with the majority coming from the traditional classical genres.  Twice a year, the choir joins with a full orchestra to present major works for special events: Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Contemporary works provide an inspiring addition to worship.

It is not necessary to be able to read music to be a member of the Chancel Choir, although it helps.  Section leaders are available to support the individual parts and a good ear and musical instincts will get you a long way to making a meaningful contribution to the ensemble.  If you are interested in joining please contact Stephen Rushing at steve@fpcbr.org.

  • The Joyful Noise Children’s Choir is for grades K-5th. We also offer a preschool choir for our 3 and 4 year olds. During the school year, we meet on Sunday evenings from 5:00-6:30 and typically sing twice a semester in the worship services. Your children will have the chance to engage in choir rehearsal, dinner and some playtime.

    Our mission is three-fold:
    1. To develop a heart of worship.
    2. To develop a growing knowledge of Scripture.
    3. To acquire a beginning Music Education.

If you are interested in joining us, please contact Angelle High (angelle@fpcbr.org) or just show up for rehearsal! We would love to have your children worship with us. There is no fee and no audition. Your child may join us at anytime!

  • Multi-media Projectionist

Each week one of the team members assembles the presentation needed for the 9:00 am contemporary worship service. The information is received via email generally by the Thursday before the Sunday of worship.  The information sent is the order of worship that includes songs, prayers, scripture readings, special music, etc.  Additionally, completed PowerPoint presentations are sent that are used for the announcements, scripture, and at times, sermon support accompaniments.

It is the responsibility of the scheduled team member to prayerfully consider how to present the information with backgrounds that reflect the tone, prayers, and scriptures for that worship service. The songs and prayers are retrieved from a database or created to add to the database if a new song/prayer.  Then, the song/prayer is matched up with pictures, video, or other appropriate backgrounds to add to the total worship service, in anticipation of it creating a better experience for each congregational member of the church.  This process is completed by using a software package that supports multi-media showcases for churches.

If you are at all interested in assisting with the multi-media of weekly worship, we would love to show you around.  Kevin Paul, our director of Multi-Media Ministries, would love to hear from you.  He can be contacted at kevin@fpcbr.org.
