The following is the latest on a series on our church history.
During the Revolutionary War, Lousiana was divided between the British and the Spanish. In 1777, Bernardo de Galvez arrived from Spain to serve as the Spanish Governor. His military experience made him well-suited for the role as it was commonly known that Louisiana would soon be dragged into the conflict. Those living in the village of Baton Rouge thought they would be ruled by Spain instead of England, which would mean Catholic control.
