The Creative Arts Ministry has a history of producing quality musicals from both classic and original sources. During the 2014 season, we were fully engaged in bringing to life two fully-staged musicals! In the Spring of 2014, we plunged deep into tradition with Fiddler on the Roof and watched as Tevye’s ongoing relationship with God allowed him to accept great changes. Then, in the Fall, we presented Roots and Promises: A Genesis Musical. Co-authored by our senior pastor, Gerrit Dawson, Roots and Promises tells the story of the gospel where, as Tolkien says, everything sad comes untrue.
The Creative Arts Department presents its spring 2016 production of Narnia, The Musical, written by Thomas Tierney and Ted Drachman, based on C.S. Lewis’s book The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, on Friday, April 15 and Saturday, April 16 at 7 pm, and Sunday, April 17 at a 2 pm matinee. Admission is free! We have an amazing cast.
It is not too late to join in the fun. We can use help behind the scenes in any capacity (make-up, stage hands, technical, costumes, set building, snack foods and promotion). Just email Nancy Spiller, firstname.lastname@example.org. Our Narnia director, Terry Byars, is an accomplished writer, composer, college theater teacher, pianist, organist and director and is well-loved in the Baton Rouge community.
The cast of Narnia is already loving his direction and sense of humor. Please help us get the word out and remember to invite personally your friends and co-workers. “Aslan is on the move!!”
Our Mission Statement
To integrate the special God-given talents of those in multiple artistic disciplines in order to give honor and glory to Jesus Christ, our Savior, in unique ways for our congregation and the community.
